Team Liquid
About Team Liquid
Team Liquid is one of the world's largest esports organizations, with competitive rosters across League of Legends, Dota 2, CS2, Valorant, and more. Their global fanbase spans multiple games, regions, and generations of esports history.
The Challenge
Team Liquid previously operated Liquid+, their in-house fan engagement platform. While the concept worked, the reality was different: maintaining a custom-built platform demanded significant engineering bandwidth and ongoing costs that didn't make sense for an esports organization whose core business isn't software development.
Beyond the resource drain, they faced the same issues most organizations encounter:
Fragmented touchpoints. Fans were scattered across Discord, Twitter, and Twitch with no unified view of engagement.
Limited first-party data. Social platforms control the fan relationship. Team Liquid could see aggregate metrics but lacked insight into individual behavior.
Engagement peaks and valleys. Activity spiked during tournaments and dropped between events, with no system to maintain momentum.
They needed a solution that delivered the same (or better) fan experience without the engineering overhead.

The Solution - MyBlue
MyBlue launched as Team Liquid's dedicated fan platform, built on FanBase's white-label infrastructure. The platform feels authentically Team Liquid while leveraging proven engagement mechanics - without requiring their team to build or maintain the underlying technology.
Quests and Challenges
Fans earn resources by completing activities across platforms and engagement types:
Social quests: Follow accounts, engage with announcements, join Discord, watch Twitch streams
Gaming quests: Connect gaming accounts and complete in-game challenges across League of Legends, CS2, Dota 2, Valorant, and other titles
Community quests: Polls, content submissions, quizzes about team history and players
Event quests: Time-limited challenges tied to tournaments and special occasions
Avatar Customization
Fans create personalized avatars with equipment slots for head, upper body, lower body, hands, and feet. Items are earned through quests, events, and the in-app store. The wearable burning mechanic adds depth: fans can sacrifice items to receive resources, creating meaningful decisions about how they manage their collections.
Events and Leaderboards
Time-bound events drive concentrated engagement around tournaments and announcements, featuring dedicated leaderboards, exclusive rewards, and community-wide goals. Global rankings recognize the most engaged fans, giving dedicated supporters visibility and recognition within the community.
Results
150,000+ quests completed. Sustained activity across social, gaming, and community categories creates consistent touchpoints between events.
10,000+ users onboarded. A dedicated user base that returns regularly to complete quests, customize avatars, and compete on leaderboards.
First-party data capture. Direct relationships with engaged fans, including connected social accounts, gaming profiles, and engagement history.
Reduced operational burden. Team Liquid's staff manages content through the admin panel - creating quests, events, and rewards - while FanBase handles the platform infrastructure.
We calculated it would take 3 developers and $150,000 to build what FanBase offers. Instead, we launched in a few weeks and focused on what matters - our fans.
